Preamble

I, Kirui Patrick, present this manifesto as a reflection of my unwavering commitment to serve, empower, and protect every teacher in Bomet County. Our profession demands integrity, progress, and bold leadership. I offer myself to lead with transparency, innovation, and inclusivity.

This is not just a manifesto — it is a promise of action.

1. Digitizing the Union

  • Develop and maintain a professional union website with timely updates and services.
  • Register and activate a bulk SMS system for urgent communication.
  • Create official emails for the 14 BECs to be elected.
  • Launch a Teachers' Resource Hub offering free teaching materials and digital tools.

2. Teachers' Welfare First

  • Advocate for better medical cover and timely support.
  • Strengthen the BBF by:
    • Increasing remittances from the National Office.
    • Creating a transparent BBF Committee.
    • Ensuring fast disbursement of benefits.

3. Junior Secondary (JS) Autonomy

  • Champion JS leadership in co-curricular activities.
  • Advocate for a separate administrative structure for JS.

4. Career Growth & Advancement

  • Push for fair, timely, and merit-based promotions.
  • Collect and analyze Bomet promotion data for transparency.
  • Advocate for automatic promotion every 4 years.
  • Negotiate stronger CBAs with tangible benefits.
  • Sponsor KNEC examiner training annually.

5. Teachers Beyond the Classroom

  • Train adjudicators, referees, and coaches.
  • Fund the Bomet Teachers Fun Day.
  • Support teachers’ teams at national tournaments.
  • Start a Teachers’ County League in all sub-counties.

6. Inclusivity and Equity

  • Promote gender-balanced leadership in schools and the union.
  • Support PLWD teachers through inclusive policies and infrastructure.
  • Uplift marginalized and remote-area teachers.
  • Mentor young and early-career teachers.

7. Transparency and Accountability

  • Publish quarterly and annual financial reports on the website.
  • Create independent audit committees with member input.
  • Share union meeting minutes with all members.
  • Implement an online feedback and suggestion system.

8. Advocacy and Legal Support

  • Offer free legal help to teachers facing workplace or TSC issues.
  • Help draft letters, appeals, and responses.
  • Organize forums on legal awareness and teachers’ rights.
  • Launch a Legal Fee Support Fund.

I will never allow a teacher to stand alone in times of trouble. I will be your voice, your defender, and your ally.
