Burial Benevolent Fund — Overview
Branch-level BBF guidelines, revised benefit ranges and governance — interactive tools for branches and NGCW.
Background & Purpose
KUPPET teachers have experienced numerous difficulties on death matters. Individual branches established BBF to address those challenges. NGCW will intervene to assist branches, encourage start-ups (deduction cap Ksh 150) and receive complaints to the NGCW chairman.

Governance & Management
Central Management Committee, executive committee make-up, signatories and delegate terms (5 years). Branch auditors appointed each AGM; branch secretariat staff contribute and benefit equally.
Composition & Signatories
BBF executive committee: Executive Secretary (co-opted patron & mandatory signatory), BEC treasurer, BBF chairman (not BEC chair), and 3 delegates elected from sub-counties. Central Management Committee includes executive committee + delegates (one per sub-county).
Duties of Office Bearers
- Chairperson: Preside meetings; casting vote in ties.
- Committee Members: Assist & stand in when needed.
- Secretary: Execute policy, keep records, take minutes & call meetings.
- Treasurer: Keep accounts, prepare budget & present audited accounts.
- Executive Secretary/Patron: Coordinate, liaise & guide on fund management.
Meetings & Controls
Special AGMs, executive committee meetings (3 times a year or once each term), anti-fraud measures, and encouragement of income-generating projects and fundraising.
NB: Ksh 10,000 shall be given during fundraising from the stipulated figure. Branches with projects can vary the figures. Branches shall not charge above Ksh 150 per the NGCW guideline.
