Digitisation for a Strong, Transparent & Inclusive Union
KUPPET – Bomet County; By Kirui Patrick Kipkorir-IT VICE CHAIR Candidate
Dear Colleagues,
Digitisation is no longer an option; it is the future of effective, transparent,
and inclusive union leadership. If entrusted with leadership, I am committed to
fully leveraging ICT to strengthen our union, safeguard teachers’ interests,
and deliver services efficiently and equitably.
🌐 Union Website & Online Platform
The union website will be the official digital backbone of KUPPET Bomet, providing members with easy access to information, services, and leadership.
- Union history, official notices, posts, and real-time updates
- Quick links to essential teacher services
- Teaching and learning materials sharing
- Online swap and transfer requests
- Imarisha & Mwalimu National forms
- Clear benefits of KUPPET membership
- BBF online reporting
- KUPPET Constitution
- Dedicated pages for each elected official
- Published financial reports for transparency & accountability
📲 Bulk SMS Communication
The union is already registered for bulk SMS services. This ensures fast, inclusive, and official communication, especially now that Safaricom limits ordinary SMS to 100 messages per batch to prevent line blocking.
📊 Promotion Justice & Data-Driven Advocacy
Consultations with colleagues reveal long-standing injustices in teacher promotions. I commit to developing a secure promotions database, similar to TMIS, to enable evidence-based advocacy for teachers who have stagnated in one job group for many years.
There is no justification for subjecting a teacher employed in 2003 to a C4 interview when they are already overqualified.
All teacher data will be handled strictly in compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019.
🗂️ Continuity Through Digital Records
Leadership transitions should not mean loss of records. As an IT professional, and with an already paid hosting server, I have developed an online BEC portal where meetings, records, tasks, and activities will be securely documented to ensure continuity and institutional memory.
💼 Digitisation of Welfare Groups
Digitising welfare groups improves efficiency, reporting, and security of contributions. This system is already operational and successful in:
- BOCOSSSA Welfare
- Tenderness Welfare Group
- Taboino Staff Welfare
- Konoin KESSHA (CAF & Welfare portal)
All are now paperless and fully digital.
Conclusion
I will use my IT skills to solve the challenges facing our union the same way
David defeated Goliath—not with size or noise, but with strategy, skill,
and precision.
Together, let us modernise KUPPET for fairness, transparency, continuity, and effective service to teachers.
